The Hack In The Box (HITB) SecConf 2014 was held from the 13 to the 16 of October, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. More than 500 people from around the world participated in the event. Unfortunately, 2014 was the final round of this nice event.

During the last week of September the antimalware industry got together in one of the oldest and most legendary information security conferences in the world, the 24th Virus Bulletin International Conference (VB2014), held in the beautiful Seattle, USA.

Perfect OPSec is almost impossible. However implementing basic OPSec practices should become second nature for every researcher. You will be more careful and hopefully, avoid rookie mistakes like talking too much and bragging about your research.

The 0x07th edition of SEC-T, an annual Stockholm-based conference, was held on 18-19 September at the stunning Anrika Nalen venue, just a 15 minute walk from the famous Gamla Stan.

What, Where & When: the 4th edition of 44CON, an annual IT Security Conference organized by Sense/Net Ltd, took place on 10-12 September in London, at a venue near the Earl’s Court exhibition center.

The world’s largest mobile innovation forum, “Super Mobility Week”, is being held in Las Vegas. We were there to participate and moderate a panel on mobile and cloud cyber-security with speakers from Verizon, Samsung, and Eriksonn Mobile.

Last week, GReAT LatAm had the pleasure of participating in the Fourth Latin American Security Analysts Summit in Cartagena, Colombia.

The end of each summer always gets me excited, because one of my favorite events is taking place: the Internet Law Summer School organized by ELSA – The European Law Students’ Association.

This years DefCon just ended and thousands of hackers, security professionals and other visitors heading back home.  This years schedule was again a good mix of talks, but which to attend is not that easy due to the mass of visitors.

This year’s BlackHat had a particularly wide range of topics. A more diverse range of topics means that more targets are under attack.

Blackhat2014 USA was held at the Mandalay Bay, Las Vegas, after being held at Caesar’s for the past 15 years or so.

Summer, sand and sun may let you think about vacation at a beach, but not IT-Security interested people. Every year gatherings happen in Las Vegas attracting amateurs and professionals from around the globe – BlackHat and Defcon.

Today was the last day of the REcon 2014 conference where reverse engineers from all over the world meet and share their research.

Well, this event went under a renaming process and was formerly known as Hashdays, that took place in Lucerne. However, the steering team behind it still is the DEFCON Switzland group

As the Bitcoin 2014 conference is unwinding here in Amsterdam today, I have to admit that I am impressed by how the crypto-currency community is making rapid steps towards reaching maturity.
