On 20th and 21st of August we had our 2nd Latin American Security Analyst Summit here in Quito, Ecuador.

Probably the two most important security conferences in the world are held in Las Vegas during the same week, gathering more than 15,000 attendees and offering dozens of talks.

Defcon 2012 marked its 20th anniversary with unexpected speakers, some pretty tough content, and the cultural dark magic that buzzes the conference every year.

BlackHat USA may have been wrapped up for the year but DEFCON is in full swing. I didn’t stay around for DEFCON though, which means I finally have some time to reflect on BlackHat.

The Blackhat 2012 keynote started the event with Shawn Henry, former Executive Assistant Director of the FBI, painting a grim, seemingly unspeakable picture of cyberespionage in the US.

There are just 11 days to go until the opening ceremony of the Summer Olympic Games in London. With the games fast approaching, now’s a good time for us to issue a gentle reminder about security.

I am now back from the Kaspersky conference: Security For The Next Generation, the International Cup 2012 which took place in the Netherlands.

At the recent SOURCE Boston conference, one presentation that caught my attention was called SexyDefense – Maximizing the home-field advantage.

While Google is obviously trying to create a safer environment in regard to the Android operating system, some of these changes are leaving me a bit confused. I recently discovered some interesting behavior in regard to the default email client in 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

This week I attended the Gartner Symposium in Barcelona. The event is for IT leaders and executives, held in a magnificent venue and superbly organized.
