Greetings from my first visit to Virus Bulletin. I just saw some quite interesting talks. Please read my summary for the first day.

Hello from Virus Bulletin 2011! Several talks this morning were very good, and an unusual topic about DDoS in the east was presented early in the afternoon.

Kaspersky Lab researchers will be presenting at this year’s Virus Bulletin conference on issues surrounding cyber-crime, mobile malware, web application security and social network threats.

Last week, we held our first Ibero-American virus analyst summit, to which we invited 34 journalists from 14 Latin American countries, as well as Spain and Portugal. Speakers and panelists included antivirus experts Jorge Mieres, Fabio Assolini, Vicente Diaz and Dmitry Bestuzhev.

When I travelled back from BlackHat and DefCon 19 and checked in at the Mc Carran airport in Las Vegas, one of the airport kiosks caught my eye.

APT is gaining much more press attention recently with RSA and Northrup Gruman intrusions making it into the news.

I’m here at Defcon watching the hacker masses share their information. As usual, it’s incredibly crowded, but the new venue at the Rio hotel is a welcome upgrade.

Almost 10,000 security pros, hackers and interested folks gathered at BlackHat USA this morning at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas.

Blackhat USA 2011 wraps up and the Defcon conference starts today. There is a little something for everyone in security here. Aside from the contests, networking, meeting folks in the industry and putting faces to names, I thought that the briefings had two fantastic talks.

The 15th Cyber Crime Symposium, Shirahama with theme “Cloud Security” was held on May 26th – 28th at the “Big U” Information Exchange Center in Wakayama Prefecture, Japan.

This week I had the chance to deliver a presentation at one of the most famous and prestigious security conference in Brazil called “You sh0t the sheriff” now in its 5th edition.

Since yesterday I’ve been attending the annual Hack-in-the-Box Quad-Track Security Conference in Amsterdam/NL. There’s a very nice and open atmosphere here at the conference, besides the beautiful city of Amsterdam.
